Waterfront Craft & Vintage

I am very pleased to say that my work is now on display to purchase at Waterfront Craft & Vintage, Ipswich. It's a fantastic shop full of many different types of craft by local artists. There really is something for everybody and upstairs has some lovely vintage and handmade clothing and textiles. As well as this they also run workshops and classes. I have a section displaying my work on the ground floor in one of the back rooms including bowls, jewellery and frames. Here are some links:-

Thank you to everyone...

I'd like to say a big 'Thank You' to everyone I met on Sunday in Felixstowe who made purchases and showed interest in my work. It was a great success and I was overwhelmed by all the positive comments I received. Since it was my first show since graduation I was quite nervous but after such a great day I have new found confidence and am now brimming with inspiration!!

Please keep an eye out on here for new pictures from the day and also a new page of photo's that will be named "Summer Colour Aug 2012" I will upload them soon as I get a chance.

For those of you fairly local to Ipswich, I will have a stall on Sat the 3rd Nov this year at the Kesgrave Community Centre, so note it in your diary!  x

New Collection

Finally I can now show a new collection of work. I have been experimenting with form, glaze, color and line. Currently I am trying out some laminating so I will post some more once they are fired in a couple of weeks time. I hope you enjoy seeing how my work is progressing. I have posted a few photos here but I will add the full collection into one of the left hand side tabs.

A Bit Quiet...

Currently I am working on adding some colour to my porcelain bowls through the use of glaze stains - to try both in the glazes and the clay body. It's a slow process as I am only in the studio for a couple of hours a week and stoneware firings are few and far between unless I can fill it mostly with my own work. Once I have some tests done, I'll post 'em up!

Just a few finished pieces

These are the first few finished bowls since I started up in the studio again about 6 weeks ago :) Some are left unglazed and the detail shows up beautifully (I'm very pleased with those).
The clear glaze on the others is possibly a bit under-fired but that just means I need to do a few more tests.
I took advantage of a nice sunny morning and photographed them in the sunlight... courtesy of my studio owner's garden!

These floral shapes will be made into jewellery.

Coming Soon...

The photos I have posted so far of my latest work are new designs and pieces in the early making stages. Because of the nature of the studio I have been using (i.e. quite a few other people putting earthenware work through and only one kiln) I haven't been able to glaze any yet at stoneware temperatures.
However I am hoping to have some finished within the next two weeks so if you are interested in purchasing any... images of finished pieces and my contact details will be posted on here in due course.

Experiments with Casting

These are some experiments that I tried with casting. I added some shapes to the mould before pouring over the slip so that the bowls are left with impressions and the underneath has a 'line drawing' effect where the liquid porcelain meets the piped porcelain. These are not fired yet but I think they will look nice once glazed, and perhaps more delicate after the shrinkage of the porcelain.

This edging makes it awkard for me to work the clay once its cast however it is quite a nice design.

Art on the Prom

I have a confirmed place for a stall at Art on the Prom in Felixstowe, Suffolk this September. If you are local... please come along. The event has been running along Felixstowe promenade once a year for the past 9 years and seems to have been very successful! It is run completely by volunteers and there is lots of other entertainment on the day besides the art stalls.
